Team building is one of the most anticipated office events. That is why it is important that team building should be exciting as it is a chance for the team to have closer working relationships and relieve work related stress. With that in mind, here are some engaging and enjoyable team building activities.
1. Build or Repair Bikes for Those in Need
This is an activity that will not just benefit the team but kids who are in need. It will give the team an opportunity to help a kid with a broken bike and teach the kid some life lessons in the process. It will also teach your team members some practical and technical skills as they are needed in building or repairing bikes.
2. Flexibility Test
Physical activities are often needed to keep the team in its best shape. This exercise is also known as the awareness of reflexive tendencies test. This activity will challenge your team's flexibility.
3. The Birthday Line-up
This activity will test how well the team members know each other. This game is simple as the members just need to form a line and their order will be based on the month and day of their birthdays. What makes this game exciting is that the members are not allowed to talk.
4. Human Knot
The Human Knot is an activity that will test your team's cooperation. Let your team intertwine their hands. Then they should form a knot. After forming a knot, they should untangle the knot without letting go of each other's hands. This activity will surely be fun to watch.
5. Group Juggle
Divide your team into two groups, then have them throw juggling balls towards each other. Increase the number of balls as the game progresses. This will make the game more challenging and will force team members to work together.
6. Build Prosthetic Hands
This is a rewarding activity as it will allow your team to help those who have lost their arms. It will make them feel great that they are working together to help a person. This activity will also help them build new skills. Check out the video below for more info on this program:
7. Win, Lose, Draw This is a simple but enjoyable activity. Divide your team into 2 or 3 groups then have them take turns drawing words on a list provided to them. The winner will be the team who has the most correct answer.
8. The Mine Field
Team members will pair up and stand in an open space. Scatter "mines" such as bottles, balls or similarly sized items all over the place. Blindfold one member of each pair and the other member will serve as a guide. The goal is for each pair to go through the "mine field".
9. Poker Tower
This activity will test your team's patience and some engineering skills. Divide your team into several groups and give them poker cards. The winner is the group who builds the tallest tower.
10. Build Playhouses
This is another heartwarming activity as the team will build playhouses. This requires the team to work together to build wonderful playhouses that kids will enjoy for years to come. The activity is also a good way to enhance your team's creativity and artistic skills.
11. Egg Drop
A challenging, messy, albeit fun activity for the team. Someone will drop egg packages while others will try to catch those using different items such as clothes, plastic, bottles, etc. This activity will test and exercise their reflexes, patience, and focus.
12. Photo Finish
The team will have a unique type of race. Instead of doing their best to cross the finish line first, the team should coordinate so that they cross the line at the same time. Otherwise, they have to start again until all of them get it right. This will definitely test their patience, stamina, and coordination.
13. Fly in the Glass
Here's another game that will test your team's focus. There will be a "wine glass" made of sticks with a fly inside. The goal is the competing teams should recreate the glass without the fly inside. They are only allowed to move two sticks at a time.
14. Lego Man
Bring out your team's inner child by playing Legos. Divide your team into several groups. Have a representative from each group look at a sculpture or a model. The representatives will then describe the sculpture so their respective group can replicate the sculpture using Legos. The team who builds the most identical Lego model wins.
15. Have a Fun Board Meeting
Lastly, turn one of the most boring office activities into a fun and exciting activity. Use colored pens, colored paper, and even some toys to add spice to the traditional dull board meeting. This will lighten up the mood and your team members will be more open in sharing their ideas if there is a fun atmosphere in the meeting room.
